"Went on Monday afternoon and the food was amazing! We ordered the salmon bowl and mixed seafood bowl and this is the real deal. Tempura prawn and oysters are not to be missed, crunchy and freshly cooked. Seating is limited and so is parking in the area. 10/10 will come again."

"This was my second visit to Ohana, and I’m still very impressed. The presentation was beautiful, and everything tasted fresh and well thought out. I tried the salmon don, mixed sashimi don, and the premium seafood don — all the sashimi was fresh and nicely balanced. You can really taste the quality. This time, I met a staff member named Mui — it was my first time meeting her, but she was super friendly and easy to talk to. She recommended the fried pumpkin croquette and fried oysters , which were both delicious — crispy, not greasy, and full of flavour. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the service has a warm and personal touch. Definitely the kind of place you’d want to come back to and enjoy at a slow pace. (Photos attached — everything tastes as good as it looks!)"

"A small restaurant offers a variety of Japanese food and wine. The noodles are delicious and chewy, neither too hard nor too soft. Bring a Yuzu wine home for my son and hope it tastes good."

"Ohana opened about three months ago. It is a small Japanese restaurant situates in Sales but gives you a surprise of signatures Japanese cuisines. The impressive bright, tidy and clean dinning hall can accomondate almost 20 guests. A reservation is a must and expected. As we know the chef is a young Hong Konger at his late 30s. People told me the chef hadn't any experience worked in a Japanese restaurant. His cooking skill is learnt by his talent and instinct that it makes he known to gourmets. One cannot deny, like some youths, the chef should be so fervent in Japanese culture. Likewise, he could make out the so wonderful Japanes foods. Why not have an assorted sashimi as recommended by a lady service staff. It makes us have a brilliant light of pleasent surprise when the assorted sashimi was put before us. The sashimi - salomon, tuna, scallop and sweet shrimp were so delicious, fresh and tender that we have never had in Manchester. They instantly melt in our mouth when swallowing. The Tonkotsu Sauce Ramen is one of it in the menu. The ramen noodles were chewy and firm, not mushy. Two pieces of the Japanes - style BBQ pork could have a thumb up. The assorted sashimi rice bowl is the one you never forget! The rice had a very generous portion to fill your stomach. Deep fried oysters were the ones taken into our order. Wrapped by a layer of coating power filled with an oyster, it needs a skill not to overdo the fresh oyster remarkably with juice tast. The chef could make it. The appetites were the seaweed salad and a hot miso soup to wake up your tast buds. Terrific! I had a chance to challenge the chef that I wish to have a bite of "Salted Grilled Ox Tongue" when I come again some date. Ohana is a Japanese restaurant to be recommended."

"Manchester has no shortage of Japanese restaurants, but ‘Ohana’ stands out as a shining example of what happens when passion, authenticity, and skill come together. After my recent visit, I can confidently say this is the best Japanese restaurant I have ever tried in the city—possibly even beyond. The first thing that strikes you about ‘Ohana’ is the freshness of the ingredients. Every bite feels vibrant, as though it has been carefully prepared with the same attention you’d expect in a high-end Tokyo sushi bar. The fish is silky, the rice is perfectly seasoned, and the balance of flavors shows that the chefs here truly understand the soul of Japanese cuisine. Whether it’s a simple nigiri or a more elaborate roll, the quality speaks for itself. Cooking skill is another area where ‘Ohana’ excels. It’s not just about putting fresh fish on rice—it’s about the little details: the knife work, the temperature of the rice, the texture of the sashimi, the delicate balance of soy, wasabi, and garnishes. The hot dishes deserve equal praise; the snacks carry both comfort and sophistication, with a range that keeps you curious to try more. It’s rare to find a place where every dish, whether raw or cooked, holds the same consistent standard of excellence. The sake menu deserves a mention too. Carefully curated, it offers a variety of options that perfectly complement the food. From crisp and clean to rich and full-bodied, the staff are knowledgeable enough to guide you to the right pairing, even if you’re not already familiar with sake. It elevates the whole dining experience from just a meal to a complete journey into Japanese dining culture. What makes ‘Ohana’ even more special is the attitude of the staff. Hospitality here feels natural, not forced. The servers are attentive without being overbearing, genuinely welcoming, and clearly proud of what the restaurant offers. It feels like they want you to enjoy every moment, and that attitude creates a warm, memorable dining atmosphere. In short, ‘Ohana – sushi, sake, snacks’ is a true gem in Manchester. Fresh ingredients, flawless cooking techniques, and impeccable hospitality combine to create a restaurant that raises the bar for Japanese cuisine in the city. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast, a sake lover, or simply someone looking for a great meal, this is a place you’ll want to return to again and again."

"Their sashimi donburi are so fresh and delicious. Brought me back to Japan instantly. Price is super reasonable given its portion and freshness. Shop is small and they are quite popular locally, better make a reservation. The staff members are very friendly too."

"A shop that transports you straight to Japan. They serve fresh sashimi with plenty of options to choose from, and you can pick your favourites for your sashimi rice bowl. There’s also a great selection of starters and my favourite was the fried oyster, which I highly recommend. Do remember to book ahead, as seating is quite limited."
